At Townings Farm we enjoy keeping traditional and rare breeds of farm animals, as they are hardier, calmer, and posses qualities such as good mothering skills, which have often been bred out of the more commercial animals. The mothering skills of our stock is very important, as our animals are reared as nature intended, by their own mothers.
These traditional animals grow slower than their commercial cousins and do not grow as large, which makes them undesirable for commercial/factory type farming. However, the flavour is far superior, and the animals are much more interesting to work with.
