At Townings Farm, we now breed all of our own piglets. We have two breeding sows; Priscilla, an Oxford Sandy Black, and Pumpkin, a Tamworth breed. Our boar, Howard, is a Saddleback Large White cross-breed. The resulting piglets stay with their mothers for two months, and are an amazing variety of colours and spots.

We feed the pigs as naturally as possible, incorporating barley grown on the farm with excess vegetables from the vegetable patch. During the autumn and winter they also love tucking in to the leftover pumpkins! All our pigs live outside, where they can dig and root around. An active pig is a happy pig!
